Update on books I am reading!!

Yes!!  I have been reading, just forgetting to blog what I've been reading!!

I finished reading both book 2 and 3 of 'The Book of Swords' by Fred Saberhagen.  Just before I left for a little vacation to see the kids and grandchildren. Very interesting if you like the fantasy sci-fi type.  Kept my interest, although they were each fairly long books!!

Needed a break from that type of fantasy, and since I was traveling I decided to read a book of short stories about time travel -- 'Veils of Time', which included 4 short stories.  'And the Groom Wore Tulle' by Lynn Kurland, 'The Con and the Crusader' by Maggie Shayne, 'A Bride Most Common' by Angie Ray and 'Conyn's Bride' by Ingrid Weaver.  All very entertaining and mindless, just perfect for long plane rides.

I noticed that 'Water for Elephants' the movie will be coming out in the next few weeks.  I have had that book for a couple of years and hadn't read it.  I just hate to watch a movie that was made from a book before I read the book.  Mostly because the book is so much more than the movie.

So I sat down and started reading 'Water for Elephants' by Sara Gruen.  Almost finished with it!!  Excellent book!!  I hope the movie can do it justice.  Don't hate me for saying that I am not that great a fan of Robert Pattinson though.

What I'm reading now!!!

Finished book 1 of the 'The Book of Swords'.  First of the trilogy!!!

The Swords were forged on a lifeless, wind-scoured mountaintop, with fire drawn from the Earth's belly, and metal that fell from the sky. They were tempered with human sweat and human blood by the hand of the god Vulcan, Master Smith.
There were Twelve Swords, created as the playing pieces in a whimsical game of the gods. Into each Sword was placed an awesome power -- to vanquish in battle, or stay by even more horrible means ...to deceive an enemy's eyes, or destroy his soul. . . to bestow unfailing luck, or heal . . .
Only one man had seen the Forging of the Swords of Power, a human smith named Jord. And for the arm that Vulcan took from him that unforgettable night, Jord received one of the Swords. It would be his legacy to his son.
Mark grew up with the Sword hanging on his father's wall. He knows well its keen edge and its unearthly perfection. But he does not realize its power until Duke Fratkin's men arrive one day to wrest the Sword from Jord. As Mark watches, the Sword strikes out, screaming with an inner fury that cares little for safety of its wielder. When the fight is over, the Duke's men are dead; but Jord and Mark's older brother, too have fallen.
Carrying the Sword with him. Mark flees the Duke's vengeance, heading for the lands of the Kind Sir Andrew. Along the way, he joins forces with the dragonhunter Nestor--owner, too of a Sword--and his two assistants, the big simple-seeming Ben, and pretty Barbara.
But they do not find the peace they seek at Sir Andrew's. For mighty forces are on the move, set in motion by hunger for the mastery over their fellow men promised by the Swords . . .

Onto the second book in the trilogy!!

Next book on my list to read!!

Finished 'Night of Many Dreams' by Gail Tsukiyama. Very good!!!

I mentioned a little earlier that I had read a book in my stash that I had for quite awhile that I had listed on a swap list and got a request for.  In the end, before sending it off I decided I really did need to read it.  Then was plesantly surprised that I, actually, had liked the book and had to order some more of his books.

Well, most of his books are series, I was only able to actually swap one or two here and there and put the rest of them on my 'wish list'.  Although one of the series, a triad or trilogy, I was able to find all in one book - and it came in the mail a couple of days ago.  Just in time to start reading after finishing 'Night of Mnay Dreams.

So now I have started book 1 of the the triad/trilogy of 'Books of Swords' by Fred Saberhagen. So far so good, only a little ways into the book as I started back to work for my long stretch last night!!  Only thing I really don't like about this book is that I don't particularly like hardbound books - they are just so awkward to read, and - yep - it's a hardbound book.  But it saved be two credits and was able to request a couple of other books with instead - kinda like a 3 for 1 special.  LOL!

Well, the snow stopped shortly after I got home from work.  When it does snow here it doesn't last very longand very rarely sticks!!  Now it is just raining again.  Not sure what whoke me up, but then I couldn't get back to sleep right away, so sat down at the computer for awhile till I started to feel drowsy again.  Now back off to bed to get a little more sleep before heading back to work this evening.

On a side note, tomorrow is potluck saturday night at work ---- hmmm what to bring.  Thinking about either taking a 'Tomato Florentine' soup that I made a big pot of yesterday, or some 'Albondigas' soup(a spicy Mexican meatball soup with veggies).  My friend and I made some 'Albondigas' soup a couple of months ago, a first time for me, and  we made way tooooooo many meatballs for it, so we vacumn sealed and froze up half of them.  All I would need to do is thaw the meatballs and add the veggies and let it simmer in the crockpot!!  Hmmm what to do!!??

Guess I'll sleep on it!!
