Second Saturdays in Hopland

We are coming up on the the second saturday of the month --- again!!

Second Saturdays in Hopland

Jul 9, 2011

The Second Saturday program has been a huge success. Six Hopland wineries (Cesar Toxqui Cellars, Graziano, Jaxon Keys, McNab Ridge, McFadden and Weibel) become open houses for the second saturday of each month! Rain or shine, all wineries offer complementary seasonal culinary delights, paired with your favorite varietals. All of these wineries run second saturday wine specials, discounts and deals! There's always a few with barrels out, for tasting the wine of the future. These wineries spare no expense and feature vertical tastings of their best wines! Other Hopland wineries participate on and off, so if one of your favorites is not on this list, feel free to contact them to see if they will be involved!

There is no entrance fee or tickets, just show up to any participating winery to start the fun!
Jaxon Keys winery typically hosts music and food from 3-7 pm. Come on by after the rest close up!
July 9 ~ Second Saturday ~ Open Late
Enjoy live music by guitarist Nate Lopez while lounging on the veranda in the shade. Complimentary appetizers and wine by the glass available. Special sale! 40% off all cases. Tasting Room opens at 10am and the music plays from 3-7pm.
McNab Ridge's tasting room has been pouring 2003-2007 CORO verticals!
It's almost time for "Second Saturday" at our Hopland tasting room. We'll be serving garlic & shrimp caesar salads topped with a zesty lemon splash, savor our new gourmet dips & spreads and Decadence will be here serving their fine handmade truffles. Try our new releases and don't forget we'll be barrel tasting and selling futures of our 2009 Cononiah Zinfandel.
Graziano has been bringing out the large format bottles (magnums and up) for tasting!

McFadden

This Saturday, we will be pouring all our wines at the McFadden Vineyard Tasting Room in Hopland and, for Second Saturday, will pair our Pinot Gris with a Wild Rice, Dill Orange Pesto, and Veggie Salad prepared by professional chef Anne Fontaine McFadden. We're closing early, around 3:30, to run up to McFadden Farm in Potter Valley for our Annual Wine Club Appreciation BBQ Dinner

My weekend!!

Went to the Taste of Downtown last Friday night!  Had fun, but would have been more fun if I had been able to go with friends!!  The weather was perfect and the wine was great -- didn't sample any of the beers/ales.  Another glass to add to my collection!!

Didn't make it to Second Saturday in Hopland though or to the Sound of Music Sing-a-long on Sunday!!  Oh well next time!!

Pretty much just laid around and did nothing, not feeling up to par for most of the weekend anyways.

Second saturday - May 14th

I can't believe it!!  All my friends bailed on me!!

Took me most of the day to make myself get out of bed and go to this by myself!!

After getting out there I was so glad that I did -- nice day, although it wasn't as hot as it has been.  Forcast was saying that it was suppose to be overcast.  OK so I wouldn't have wanted to be out in my shorts, but I was fine in short sleeves and jeans!!

Didn't hit all the wineries but did make it to 4 places and ran into great people to chat with!!

Frankie J & Anita Blu
Milano Winery had some live music by  and Frankie J and Anita Blu nice and easy to listen to jazz and blues.  Might have to check them out at a few of the other places that they will be playing around the area!!  Great to see local talent!!

Visited and tasted for awhile there -- found out that my wine club shipment was in and that I am scheduled to work next weekend when they will be having their wine pick-up party, so I picked mine up and just had to get a couple of bottles of 'Sunshine' too!!

Then I headed on into Hopland and spent some time visiting at the McNab tasting room!!! What wonderful people and some really good wines too!  Just about picked up some more 'Charisma' but held off since I have 2 bottle at home already.

Denise paired up some yummy curried prawns over coucous with their French Colombard wine.  Yummy, Yummy!!

One of these days I just might have to join their wine club too!!!

I then headed across the street to visit with Bernadette at SIP!!  Just for the fun of it!!! We talked wines and geocaching!!  I always like to try to get new people interested in geocaching!!!  She couldn't believe that there were any in or around Hopland!!!

To end my day I drove down the road and landed at Jaxon Keys!!  One of my favorite places to just buy a glass and sit on their wrap-around porch and enjoy the view -- for hours!!  They are open late for second saturdays so it's a nice place to end the day!!  Frankie J was just leaving there when I pulled up and we stopped and chatted a bit!!   Then went up and met quite a few people that were from out of town tasting in our wonderful valley!!

So, yes I had fun even though I ended up having to go out by myself!!  Hopefully next month everyone won't bail on me as it can be twice as much fun with good friends!!
